OH wanted the CCTV to be altered to be more sensitive so at 5 am waht felt like ten perhaps more alerts went off one after the other but nothing was recorded. It could have been animal activity but it woke OH up which then meant that I was woken up and struggled to get back to sleep. So I am down here an hour earlier than I need be.
I did try and get back to sleep and think I must have done but there we go, I was awake and it was easier to come down here than try and get 1 hour's sleep. I wouldn't mind but I've got the drive up to my mother's to make this morning. To add to that it is Budget Day and let's see what these utter clowns have in store for us. I cannot imagine it will be good as they seem to be, like many of my bosses, spreadsheet managers who are unable to gather the big picture. It's already been seen the laws of unintended consequences unfurling.
I hope that they've learned the lessons of the past but they doubtless will not. As they legislate so they destroy jobs and opportunities. Businesses fail and so revenues go down, unemployment goes up and the vicious circle speeds up narrowing those able to contribute in Tax and destroying jobs and livelihoods. Investment slows, more people lose their jobs and down we go again.
Anyway, that's happening and we will see if it is a budget that hails an election or not. The devastation caused in the last two budgets was bad enough so how this will land I don't know. What may tip people over could be the rise in utility prices in January which are looking like 25% to 27%!! With way over 100% rise in our heating oil you can only guess what the reaction will be. They took off the 5% VAT which saves people about say £50 a year only to whack more than £200 a year back on! Pensioners, like us, will receive 3.9% increase next April that takes us into income tax bands and the increase is wiped out by inflation, taxes etc.
Not long to go until we hear the next punitive measures imposed and are left to wonder where the country is going!
